Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve is about a 2-hour drive from where I live. Located in Jackson County, Ohio, USA, the lake is one of the roadside attractions for those traveling along east US35 route heading towards West Virginia.
The entrance to the park is not hard to find. However, when you arrive and check the map available at the parking lot, there isn’t anything that says about the directions to the waterfalls. In fact, there were two elderly people, who arrived before me, who were just confused as I was in finding the right trail to the falls. After a few minutes, we found the trail!

The lake and the waterfalls are about a quarter of a mile away from the start of the trail. I have been to many nature preserves in Ohio, but the Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve is unique. The trail was surrounded with tall pines! There were also huge boulders of rocks along the trail that added to its uniqueness.
The first sight that greeted me at the end of the trail was Lake Katharine. What a beauty! I saw a couple of speed boats at the lake. With the green trees surrounding the lake and the blue sky above it, it feels like paradise!
From where I stood at the lake, I could hear that the waterfall should not be too far ahead.
I walked towards the woods and saw a wooded bridge and the waterfall that run beneath it.
The cascading falls is not that high, but it is mesmerizing.
There was a beaten path that led downwards to the foot of the waterfall. I decided to go down to view the waterfall from another angle. It was even better!
