About 65 feet tall and 800 feet in circumference, the Miamisburg Mound in Ohio is one of the largest conical Indian mounds in eastern U.S. It is the only mound located in the prehistoric site park. It has steps that allow visitors to go the top observation platform.
Here are few things you need to know before you visit:
- Like most of the Indian mounds I have visited in Ohio, the Miamisburg Mound is from the Adena culture (800 B.C. to A.D. 100).
- It served as a cemetery for several generations.
- Since the mound is actually part of a park, there is a big picnic shed near the mound that is available for gatherings and events.
- If the intention is just to see the mound, you need no more than 30 minutes to climb it or even go round it.
- There is enough space for parking.
- This is FREE attraction in Miamisburg, Ohio.
- The mound is managed locally by the City of Miamisburg.
