Giant Indian dairy company, Amul Dairy, is open for daily tours inside its Amul Dairy Museum and plant at Anand in the state of Gujarat, India. Amul — The Taste of India — has become the biggest brand in the nation.
Historical facts about Amul Dairy
- Registered in 1946 as Kaira District Milk Union Limited
- In 1948, the Union had started pasteurizing milk for the ‘Bombay Milk Scheme’
- Initiated the White Revolution of India in 1970, and created Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd.
- Awarded the “Best of all” Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award in 1999
- The company has now created an economic network of more than 3.1 million village milk products with millions of consumers in India
- As a cooperative brand, Amul today is jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat

Get a tour inside the plant and museum
Amul Dairy offers FREE tours inside their plant as well as the Dairy Museum. The visiting hours are very limited, only from 2 pm to 4 pm daily. No prior permission required. Bring your ID as you will be checked at the entrance gate.

Amul Dairy Museum
The Amul Dairy Museum is dedicated to the Dairy Industry and was first opened in November 2000 to mark the 80th birthday of Dr V. Kurien, The Father of White Revolution in India. Inside the museum is a photo gallery that showcases the glimpses of the genesis of Amul and its massive growth over the years.
Notes before you travel
- They provide you with tour guides, one for the museum and another one for the plant.
- No photography is allowed inside the museum and the plant. If you have cameras, you will be asked to deposit them at the guard house by the entrance gate. You will get them back when you exit the gate.
- You can bring your mobile phone and take photos outside the museum and plant.
