One of the earliest Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house that is built in Ohio is the Westcott House. The one-story, prairie-style house was built in 1908 for Burton J. And Orpha L. Westcott. In 1946, it was turned into an apartment complex due to a housing crisis after the second World War. Years gone by and the house slowly deteriorated and eventually neglected.
Recently, a group of 400 professionals and volunteers restored the house into its original state. With over $5 million raised, the house was rescued from being demolished and accurate restoration was done. Now, it is back to how it looked over 100 years ago. The house promotes historic preservation and inspires creativity and innovation through architecture and design education.
The guided tour would take about 45 minutes. Each room of the house has a story, even the designs of its exterior has its share of tale.
Who is Frank Lloyd Wright? He was an architect and writer, and the most abundantly creative genius of American architecture. His “Prairie style” became the basis of 20th-century residential design in the United States.
