I say this again: I would not recommend the Museum at the Friends Home in Waynesville, Ohio to be part of your travel itinerary. Below is what I wrote on my Google review (with some additions) for this place:
The sign in front of the museum clearly says it all, that they are open on Saturdays from 1 PM to 5 PM. Even if you check online, that same schedule is posted. I drove a long way to see this museum that, based on comments online, seems interesting. I thought that it’s something that I could write about. But I was very disappointed when I arrived at the place on a Saturday afternoon!
First, the front door was locked. I went to the side and checked if maybe the visitor’s entrance door has changed. Unfortunately, still locked. I checked the schedule posted on their front and side doors and both said they are open. Since I couldn’t enter, I thought I should just leave. As I was about to hop into my car, I saw a group of people entered the side door. I hurried back to the museum hoping I could get inside. A lady opened the door just enough to see who I was. She looked at me a little surprised (maybe she thought I was part of the group that just entered). She never said hello or anything welcoming. Not even a smile! She just told me straight to my face that the museum is closed because of a private gathering. I told her that I drove far just to see the museum. After a quick “I’m sorry”, she closed the door. I was astounded. She was rude. Nowhere online or at the doors that said they were close that day. I wasted my time traveling to see the museum only to be treated with that kind of rejection! I will never visit this place. If you want to go, call them first. Do not trust their website because they do not update it nor any other links online that says they are open.
