I stopped at the building where my GPS brought me to. Part of my plan that day was to visit the Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum in Logan, Ohio. The lady at the welcome counter smiled and greeted me as I entered the door. I approached the desk and told her about my interest in seeing the museum. She smiled again and said, while pointing outside, “That’s the Pencil Sharpener Museum.” Surprised, I asked, “Do you mean this building isn’t the museum?” “This is the Visitor’s Center. The museum is the small cabin just outside the entrance door,” she replied.
What I read online about the museum being small, I thought it is just a small section of a big building. But it was, in fact, a separate structure, a small cabin to be exact.
True to its name, from miniature planes to superhero characters to animal figures, everything inside is a pencil sharpener. Even the small cabin that houses them was built to strikingly resemble that of a pencil sharpener. I’m sure the museum has the weirdest sharpener collection in the world!
It didn’t take more than 15 minutes to check the items in this unusual museum in Ohio. If you have kids with you, they may be more interested in this.
Below, see the photos I took inside and outside the museum.
