It was a very hot day at the Chicago Air and Water Show. At around 3 PM, I saw many people started to leave North Avenue beach and headed to the bus station, which was about half-a-mile walk. I thought I should do the same and go to an air-conditioned shop, like Starbucks, just to cool myself. However, as I was nearing the station, there was a sign at one street intersection that said “Chicago History Museum.” I took my phone out and mapped the location of the museum. To my surprise, it was just a block away from where I was! So I changed my mind and headed to the history museum.

The 1.5 hours remaining time before the museum closes was more than enough for me.

The Chicago History Museum housed Chicago’s heritage in its 2-story building. For me, this museum was small, but there were plenty to see!

There was a section that displayed an old train engine and an old Chicago street car that you could walk through.

The section about Dr. Martin Luther King’s visits to Chicago was very informative. Plus, there were sections about the city’s industry, organized crime, union violence, and jazz culture. Believe or not, there was a room where you could sing a blues karaoke song!

If you are around Lincoln Park, the Chicago History Museum is a great place to spend a couple hours or so and learn about the city’s past.
