Built in 1817, the old and historic Hetzel Summer Kitchen structure is located at the Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio. Peter Hetzel, his wife Catherine, and their five children lived in this small, white, wooded frame building for about a year. Peter was a carpenter and manufactured fanning mills, hand-looms and furniture. He was also the founder of Zion Memorial Church on South Dixie Drive in Moraine, Ohio.

Interesting historical fact:

1. Summer kitchens were used to keep the heat out of the main house during hot weather. Pots were suspended from the crane for cooking and heating water.
