Green River, Utah is a small town with only about 900 people living. There is only one grocery store that’s close on a Sunday and a few hotels and motels scattered in the quiet and struggling little town. We stayed at Budget Inn Motel to make the connection between Arches National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park.
Wayne owns the Budget Inn Motel. The moment we checked in, we immediately know that he has a colorful character. Dressed comfortably in his tattered shirts and rugged short pants, he greeted us with a smile and even escorted us to our room. He assured us that whatever we needed, he’d do his best to give it to us.
The room was not the best-looking room I’ve been into. But it was enough for a night or two of stay. It has a microwave, a small TV, and a very comfortable (surprisingly) bed. The bathroom was small but clean, although the squeaking of the faucet when you turn it on was a little bothersome.
The room wifi was slow at most times. If you wanna watch a video online, it may take a while to load.
Breakfast was okay with an assortment or cereals, bread, and fruit jellys. There was no dining room as breakfast was served right in front of the check-in counter. Wayne would provide you a tray so you can carry your food to your room.
Budget Inn was the don’t-judge-by-the-looks kind of motel. It didn’t look good outside, but you’d be surprised by the comfort inside and the personal touch the owner put to make sure each guest felt contented.
And what about the blueberry muffins? Wayne served them during breakfast. He proudly told us that he baked them himself. And did I mention that he roasted his own coffee as well?
