Thanks to a friend who brought me to Charliz Burgers, Fish and Wings restaurant (located near New Mexico State University), I was able to finally tasted its fish fillets. When I was asked how many fish fillets would I want and when I said three, the lady server asked me once again, “Are you sure?” She looked at me with a smile and continued, “These are huge fillets.” I answered the same, “Three.”
The restaurant is pretty simple inside. Just a rectangular area with no-fancy tables and chairs and has a little bar on one side. TV screens adorned the walls showing different sport channels. It was lunch time when I visited the place and there were only ten people inside. I was expecting a busy lunch day, but maybe because classes are over and students are away, the number of customers is understandable.
So the orders arrived promptly. And, lo and behold, the fish fillets were huge! The look of the server’s face was saying “I told you so.” With a tasty butter-toasted bread on the side, my lunch was complete. The battered fish fillet was crunchy outside and soft inside. I managed to finish only two of the three fillets. I decided to bring the left-over home.
Charliz Burgers, Fish and Wings is a good addition to the line of dining options along University Ave.
I will be back next time and try their chicken wings.
