There are very limited free parking spaces when you travel and visit the downtown plaza of Santa Fe, New Mexico. If you go later during the day, chances are, you won’t find a place to park for free. But don’t worry, there are a number of city parking facilities around the area that charge half-day or full-day parking rates.
I parked across the New Mexico Museum of Art and I paid 20 dollars for a whole day use. Parking rates and hours are posted at each lot. Prices may vary for weekends, weekdays, and special events.
When visiting downtown, here are the city parking facilities:
1. Water Street Parking Lot
Entrance to this lot is on Water Street.
2. Sandoval Municipal Parking Garage
Entrance is on San Francisco Street.
3. Saint Francis Cathedral Parking Lot
Entrance is on Cathedral Place.
4. Santa Fe Community Convention Parking
Underground parking garage entrance is on Federal Place, across from the Post Office.
Please note that the Palace Avenue is closed to vehicle traffic between Lincoln Avenue and Washington Avenue.
See the map below for the road guide. Green-colored ‘P’ is free parking. Blue-colored ‘P’ is paid city parking. ‘V’ is the visitor center.
