At $89 a night, the Santa Fe Suites in New Mexico was a steal. Most of the reviews written online about the hotel were very convincing. Convinced, I booked the hotel and traveled during Columbus Day weekend.
It was hard to find the location of the hotel. The GPS said that I have already reached my destination, but there was no Santa Fe Suites in sight. I circled the Albertson’s store I saw nearby. After a few minutes, I located the hotel at the back of the mall. In short, to reach the hotel, take the mall entrance and drive to the back.
First impression of the hotel: very quiet and safe.
Santa Fe Suites does not look like any other hotel I’ve been to. Its exterior architecture was designed to look like a two-story fine-looking duplex apartment unit. From the outside, it was inviting.
I entered the room and was surprised to see a kitchenette. And yes, there was a stove. I opened the cupboard and there were plates, glasses, and kitchen utensils. The fridge was not the usual mini-fridge you see in most hotels — this one was big enough for your food supplies. I also loved the shiny tiled floors!
Although I didn’t like the old-look design of the bedding, the bed was surprisingly very comfortable.
The bathroom fixtures looked cleaned and well-maintained. Hot and cold shower worked just fine.
A table and chairs completed the dining area.
Sure, there was a couch that can turn into a bed.
This is how the Santa Fe Suites Hotel looked like from the one of the sides.
This hotel is about 7 minutes from the plaza. This location is very convenient if you intend to do some sightseeing in the downtown area.
Here are few cons:
– Don’t expect to see a swimming pool.
– No fitness room for those wanting to exercise.
– The free continental breakfast was not at par with other cheap hotels I’ve been to.
Santa Fe hotels can be very expensive. If you want comfort with a decent price, stay at the Santa Fe Suites.
