Today, the giant Roadrunner Sculpture was finally found. I have read about this roadrunner monument made from recycled materials that stand along I-10 near Las Cruces, New Mexico, but nowhere online could I find its exact location and address. Google didn’t help. One online article mentioned about going east along I-10 and taking exit 135. I followed that direction and I was led to nowhere.
So where exactly is the Recycled Roadrunner Sculpture located in Las Cruces, New Mexico? Nope, typing Roadrunner Sculpture on your GPS will show nothing but ‘unknown location’.
Going east on I-10, it is about 5 exits before Las Cruces. So coming from Deming, New Mexico going east on I-10, take note of exit 135. However, do not take the exit just yet. Once you see exit 135, slow down because a couple hundred meters further you will have to take an exit for a rest area. The Roadrunner Sculpture is situated in a beautiful elevated rest area, with shelters facing a scenic view. You will never miss the sculpture the moment you are in the shelters.
If you come from Las Cruces, go west on I-10 towards Deming, then take exit 132. Turn left on Crawford Blvd and, with just few meters away, turn left to go back to I-10 (but this time you are heading east). Follow the directions above, outlined in the previous paragraph, to find the roadrunner statue.
Here it is: the 20-ft Roadrunner Sculpture atop the hill, overlooking the city!
The exterior part of the sculpture is mostly made of old shoes!
The shelters are plenty. I have seen families bringing and partaking on food!
You see Las Cruces from afar with the Organ Mountains in the background.
If you are passing through I-10 going east during daytime, stop by.
Here is the map with the address of the sculpture marked.
