When we think of a zoo, we think of animals roaming in open spaces, outside their small covered cages. That is why when winter comes, some of us think that all zoos are closed because there is no way animals will be released outside in freezing temperatures. But we think wrong. Most large zoos are open on winter and they even let some animals play outside in the snow. And this makes visiting a zoo during snowy winters a fun thing to do. Also, there are indoor attractions for those who do not want to spend time walking outside.

Last weekend, I visited the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. Being one of Chicago’s top family destinations, with a free admission and open every day of the year, I checked out what it has to offer on a snowy Sunday.

It’s amazing that something so wonderful could be free.
