Literally, you can get lost inside the The Saint Louis Art Museum in Missouri. It is a huge museum with so many turns and ‘hidden’ rooms. In short, it has a very confusing layout. A map does not help at all. There isn’t any signage pointing out to which rooms, so you can easily miss an exhibit if you aren’t curious of what’s inside a door in a corner.
Not minding the layout, the museum is something not to miss if you visit Saint Louis. It has an amazing collection of the German immigrant Max Beckmann, who died in St. Louis. It has artworks done by Native American to George Caleb Bingham.
It certainly is not a wasted time if you decide to visit the free-admission museum.
It is called Art Hill.
The museum is perfectly set atop “Art Hill” with great views of Forest Park. Not to mention, the building is beautiful.
No photography.
In most of the galleries, photography isn’t allowed. The photos I took were very limited.
I particularly enjoyed the Picasso, Beckmann, Matisse.
What are these?
Interesting. Impressive. Displays.
Fronting the museum is this beautiful view of the park.
Although it is a free museum, there are fees for special exhibits, except Fridays, where everything is free.
