Am I the only one not impressed with the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson? The map provided at the Visitor’s Center was easy to follow, however, when I was there in late November, it was hard to find the animals in outdoor areas. And when you finally see something, they are so limited in number. In most instances, the animals were nowhere to be found.
The place is partly botanical garden, partly a zoo, but less of a museum.
But if you like walking outdoors and to be under the scorching heat of the sun, then the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is the place for you.
A number of hiking trails.
There are displays that show something like this: magnification of a desert soil 1000X.
Few animals inside their enclosures.
Cactus in different sizes and heights.
What I like the most: The hummingbird aviary.
Although this place isn’t for me, I still think that this is a great place for kids to learn about the desert and its animals and plants.
