In my wish to find some highly-reviewed widgets to improve the navigation design and visual content of this blog, I landed on a site about video blogging. The article reminded me of why I never pushed the button to begin video blogging when I discovered it many years ago; and when my first ever blog (not this one) was still in its infancy.
Although blogging using videos sounds captivating, there are more hiccups to it than convenience.
First, it takes time to come up with a video. Apart from the time the shooting of the video consumes, editing it could take ages for an amateur video blogger. This leads to the next reason.
The video needs artistry/creativity, which the blogger may not possess. The video has to seize the readers or visitors. It should make them visit your blog frequently.
Next, the video must be distinctive. In this era of video technology and to compete with the rest of successful video bloggers, the video should luster above the rest when it comes to originality of concept.
Further, a video could generate less traffic to your blog because you will likely refrain from texts that are essential for site optimization. Keywords no longer exist, unless of course long texts and description accompany the video.

Lastly, why take pains? YouTube, Daily Motion, and other online video sources have codes that are very easy to embed. In any particular topic, there could be videos that already exist to supplement your need. All you need to do is copy the embeddable codes and get the videos posted on your blog.
Will I continue to give a cold shoulder to video blogging? I, most likely, will. I have already found my niche in this competitive world of blogging, and using videos to blog is not the one.
What about you?
