Most tourist visiting Puerto Princesa, Palawan will stop by Baker’s Hill. The main reason — to buy pasalubong (homecoming gift) for friends and family back home. In Baker’s Hill, the most famous pasalubong is the hopia (pastry filled with bean or purple yam or even meat). Ensaymada (a popular Filipino bread that is topped with grated cheese and sugar) is also a best seller. The prices are reasonable, which I think is important to note.
The place isn’t for selling pastries alone, it has a playground that is great for the kids. The garden is decorated with colorful statues and some historical figures. Honestly, I was not expecting to see something like this in this location.
Here are photos I took with my brother and mom.
If you intend to visit, Baker’s Hill is located in Mitra Road, Barangay Sta. Monica, Puerto Princesa, Palawan Island, Philippines.
